Mayfair is situated in the City of Westminster and lies east of Hyde Park, bounded by Oxford Street to the north and Piccadilly to the south. It is now the elegant and smart area of central London; a complete contrast to it’s emergence in 1686, when in May each year they held a fifteen day fair in the area, giving rise to the name”Mayfair”. This area is now known as Shepherd Market.

After the Second World War the town houses were converted for commercial use but more recently they have been returned to their former glory, providing grand homes for the rich and famous. The area is managed and overseen by the Grosvenor Estate who takes particular care to retain its historic grandeur.

During recent years Mayfair has joined the elite group of shopping streets, with Mount Street, New Bond Street and Old Bond Street showcasing shops for top designers.

Mayfair is renowned for its fine hotels and sophisticated restaurants as well as its private members clubs. Not devoid of green spaces, Green Park and Berkeley Square, with their well manicured gardens and paths, are only a short walk away.
